Chiang Rai is one of Thailand’s most cultural cities ever known. Today Chiang Rai still follows the old cultures and traditions, such as Loi Krathong, Songkran, etc., but there is plenty of modern day appearance with rich Lanna Northern Culture.
Our school, Chiang Rai International Christian School, arranged a Thai Field Trip for students to visit Nine Historical Places in Chiang Rai. Each day for a week CRICS’s Thai teachers took groups of students for a half-day tour of the city. Groups included 3rd-4th grades, 5th-6th grades, 7th-8th grades, and 9th-12th grades. Students viewed valuable and venerable locations with teachers and friends to learn more about their beloved city. I was one of the students visiting the historial sites with ancient artifacts from long ago. We saw old carriages that were designed by famous people in the past, old temples, ancient artifacts, honored statues, and many more.
It was a blessing to be there and to participate in these events and to see Chiang Rai’s nine most honored historical places. Seeing those sites made me realize that there are many places that I haven’t been before and that there is more to see in Chiang Rai.
