On the 4th-6th grade field trip, we first went to a food processing factory near Mae Sai called Doi Kham (http://www.doikham.co.th/aboutus02_en.php). When we got there, we looked in a shop where they sell packaged food. Next, we walked over to the food packaging factory. We watched a video about the company while tasting juice, which the company had packaged. When the video was over, the lady, who was giving us the tour, explained the video in Thai. One of the 5th grade girls from our school translated it into English. Next, we walked into a type of hall. One of the walls was a window which overlooked the machines and workers. We watched them putting the packaged drinks into boxes. We asked questions and watched the factory work. At one point the machines stopped, and the drinks stopped coming. They had to reload the juice pot that fills each juice box.
Next, we went to the produce testing location. They test only one bag of each delivery and then decide if they will keep the farmer’s fruits or vegetables. They explained how they decide if a farmer’s product is good or not. Then they let us taste some passion fruit. We walked over and saw some water they were cleaning. Then we went to the shop, and most people bought some stuff.
Next, we drove to a hot spring. We ate fried rice and just hung out and played. In the hot water, some people boiled eggs. Then we got in our cars and headed back to school.
Here are a few pics from our day:
