Eagle Scout Project: 6th Grade Environmental Camp

Eagle Scout Project

As CRICS’s students grow, they are entrusted with more and more responsibilities. Upon reaching 6th grade, the students are put in charge of planning and running the biweekly elementary assembly. Tasks like this, added to the already heaping pile of responsibilities thrust on most young people around this time of life, can seem overwhelming and difficult if they are not prepared. This is why I decided to organize and direct a day-camp for our 6th grade students as a part of my path to Eagle Scout. The plan was for the kids to learn useful skills that can be used throughout life, like teamwork and first aid. The camp was held at a local hot springs campsite on March 19. It was a spectacular success. The students enjoyed playing games and learning new skills, not to mention the delicious food; thanks to Pii John. I would like to thank all the 711 troopers and parents who helped out. Special thanks to Mrs. Cindy Montzingo and Mrs. Jennifer Theis, who taught the kids environmental science and first aid. This camp, I hope, was the first of many that will occur every year, helping prepare young people for life.
