Dear Friends of CRICS,
Great news! We just started a new school year at Chiang Rai International Christian School. Diligent work through the summer provided for excitement on opening day as we completed a new lower elementary building just in time.
This year marks CRICS’ second year on our new campus! We begin this year with much positive headway. Later this month we travel to Bangkok to receive special recognition from the Thailand Department of Education for exceeding expectations on our initial accreditation site visit by the Thai government at the end of the 2012-13 school year. Also the summer brought encouraging news that the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) committee that visited last year accepted CRICS as a candidate school for WASC accreditation. We look forward to a joint WASC and ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) accreditation visit in the 2014-15 school year.
We are thankful for our CRICS School Board that plowed forward on a much needed lower elementary building this summer, and now we actually have room to start this year with 117 students, that is a jump from 104 last year. Of course the students think the new playground is the best part! The increase in our student population repesents some interesting dynamics for our student population. This year our school hosts students of missionary families from Brazil, Korea, Taiwan, the Netherlands, Canada and the U.S. We also have students from Austrailian, German and Greek families. And of course we are so grateful for our students from Thai families! Of our families with Thai passports, many students take pride in their indigenous hill tribe people group background. Much of the positive Christian missioanry work in this area has been with these indigenous people goups within Thailand, and CRICS takes great satisfaction in new opportunities to educate the children of some of our important Christian leaders from the Chiang Rai area.
What’s next? CRICS needs more teachers and administrators to help us expand our impact in the Chiang Rai community. The possibilites are unlimited with the right people. We have amazing open doors of opportunity to share the good news of Christ as we work in the area of education. How might you, your church, or your college be a part of sending teachers, administrators, missionary educators, and student teachers to CRICS?
We would love to hear from you.
Peace of Christ,
